President Bola Tinubu has asserted that while corruption cannot be completely eliminated, his administration is committed to reducing it to the barest minimum by addressing systemic flaws and closing loopholes. Tinubu made this statement during a live presidential media chat broadcast nationwide on Monday evening.
The President outlined his administration’s anti-corruption strategy, highlighting key reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidies as part of broader efforts to curb corrupt practices.
“Block all the loopholes, where anybody can just gain in the system. Part of the anti-corruption [drive] is the removal of subsidy too,” Tinubu said.
He acknowledged the challenges in completely eradicating corruption but emphasized the importance of focusing on meeting the needs of citizens, empowering them economically, and investing in education.
“It is very, very difficult to say you will eliminate it. You will reduce it to the barest minimum, meet the people’s needs, help the people grow, and help them with the education of their children,” he stated.
Tinubu’s remarks align with his administration’s broader agenda to promote transparency, fiscal discipline, and accountability in governance, aiming to rebuild public trust and drive economic growth.
