President Bola Tinubu has expressed unwavering confidence in Nigeria’s service chiefs, affirming his support for their ongoing efforts to address the country’s security challenges. Speaking during his first Presidential Media Chat in Lagos on Monday night, Tinubu stated that he has no intention of probing the service chiefs, emphasizing respect for the institution and its leadership.
“I’m not probing any service chief. You cannot disrespect the institution because of the threat of a probe, and you cannot fight this war without investment in technology and weaponry,” the President asserted.
Tinubu praised the service chiefs for their work under difficult circumstances, noting the complexity of securing Nigeria, a vast country with extensive forests and unoccupied spaces.
“They are living and operating in a very serious condition. We have a huge country, a very huge one, and lots of forests, unoccupied spaces. Give them credit for what they are doing. I am proud of what they are doing today. No need to probe,” he said.
The President also highlighted improvements in Nigeria’s security landscape compared to previous administrations. He pointed out that citizens can now travel more safely across the country, a marked departure from past restrictions due to insecurity.
“Today, I have confidence in my security architecture of this country. You can still travel on the roads. Before now, it was impossible. It takes one incident to mess up an organised environment, but today, that is not the story any longer,” Tinubu explained.
He acknowledged ongoing challenges but reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring safety for all Nigerians. He referenced recent improvements in travel routes, such as the ability to drive from Kaduna to Kafanchan, as a testament to the progress made under his leadership.
“Well, the road may not be that smooth, but gradually, we will be there,” the President concluded.
This declaration underscores Tinubu’s focus on stability and security while supporting and strengthening Nigeria’s military and law enforcement institutions.
