The University of Ilorin has appointed three distinguished retirees as emeritus professors, honoring their contributions to academia and the institution.
The appointees are Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, Prof. Olu Obafemi, and Prof. Musbau Akanji. This decision was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun.
According to the statement, the university’s Senate approved the appointments during its 304th meeting, held on Thursday.
Prof. Oloyede, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, retired from the institution in October 2024. He currently serves as the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Prof. Obafemi, a literary scholar, retired from the university in 2020, while Prof. Akanji, a renowned biochemist and former Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, and Federal University of Technology, Minna, retired in 2021.
The appointments reflect the university’s recognition of their outstanding achievements and lasting impact in their respective fields.
