Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Friday, Musa revealed that recent military operations have significantly weakened Turji’s network. These operations led to the elimination of Turji’s second-in-command and several top lieutenants, forcing him to release numerous hostages and consider laying down his arms.
Musa highlighted the challenges in tracking Turji, describing his movements as unpredictable, which complicates swift military action based on intelligence. Despite these difficulties, the military’s recent successes have intensified pressure on Turji’s group, ultimately pushing him to the brink of surrender.
“They (terrorists) are embedded in the communities, and people often see them. However, by the time we receive the information and act, they’ve often moved within two hours,” Musa explained. “But we’ve taken out his second-in-command and most of his lieutenants. He’s now forced to release most of his captives, and recently, he has started expressing readiness to surrender.”
Despite Turji’s offer to surrender, Musa emphasized the importance of justice, stating that those responsible for violence and the deaths of innocent citizens must face accountability.
