Aguata Federal Constituency lawmaker, Chukwuma Umeoji, has become the first aspirant to purchase the All Progressives Congress (APC) N50 million nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2025 Anambra governorship election.
Although Umeoji was not present, a representative picked up the forms on his behalf at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.
The party confirmed the development in a statement on its official social media handle, stating, “Hon. Chukwuma Michael Umeoji, an aspirant in the November 16, 2025, Anambra gubernatorial election, has become the first to obtain his nomination and expression of interest forms today at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.”
The presentation was conducted by APC National Organizing Secretary, Muhammad Suleiman Argungu, in the presence of the party’s Directors of Election Management & Organizing, Tasiu Mohammed and Ahmed Wambai Sulaiman.
Umeoji, a former All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the 2021 Anambra governorship election, was initially selected as the party’s flag bearer but was later disqualified over alleged defiance and insubordination to party leadership, as well as concerns over his financial standing.
His appeals against the disqualification were unsuccessful, and a week before the election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) replaced his name with Prof. Charles Soludo as APGA’s official candidate.
Displeased with the move, Umeoji defected to the APC and is now set to contest again under the ruling party’s platform in the 2025 gubernatorial race.
