Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has claimed that he is a madman undergoing treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta.
Portable made this statement on Tuesday while appealing to Nigerians and the Ogun State Government after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command.
The Zazoo Zeh crooner was allegedly involved in a violent altercation with three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office. The officers—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were conducting an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, Ogun State, when they encountered an elderly man later identified as Portable’s father.
According to reports, the town planners requested an approved building plan, but upon learning that Portable was unavailable, they were soon confronted by the singer. The police allege that Portable, armed with a firearm and accompanied by nine others, violently attacked the unarmed officials.
“The enforcement officers sustained injuries but managed to escape and report the incident. Nine accomplices were arrested, but Portable fled the scene and has since gone into hiding,” the police stated.
In response, Portable took to Instagram in a series of rants, claiming he was being set up due to his political affiliations. He also insisted that he suffers from mental health issues and is under medical care at Aro Hospital.
“I fear the government. I am a federal government liability. I am a madman; I have medications that I usually take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients,” he said.
The singer further defended himself, stating, “I am not a thief. I help people without looking at their background.”
As the police continue their search for him, Portable’s claims have sparked widespread reactions online.
