Rotary International District 9112 has announced plans to allocate over N500 million toward humanitarian projects in 2025, reinforcing its commitment to community development and social impact.
District Governor Rotarian Femi Adenekan made this revelation during a press conference in Lagos as part of the 120th-anniversary celebrations of Rotary International. He highlighted the district’s ongoing efforts, stating that more than N200 million had already been invested in various projects aimed at improving lives across local communities.
“The next project we are embarking on will involve constructing a vocational center, which we estimate will cost between N200 million and N300 million,” Adenekan stated. “This is in addition to the amount already spent on various initiatives. Overall, we expect to surpass N500 million in humanitarian investments across District 9112 in 2025.”
Adenekan emphasized that, beyond district-wide initiatives, individual Rotary clubs would also implement their own community-based projects to drive positive change. These efforts align with Rotary’s broader goal of supporting government initiatives and fostering sustainable development.
Reflecting on the 120-year journey of Rotary International, Adenekan described the organization’s global impact, which spans 55,000 clubs across 520 districts in more than 200 countries. He highlighted Rotary’s focus on seven key areas, including:
- Peacebuilding and conflict prevention
- Disease prevention and treatment
- Maternal and child health
- Economic empowerment
- Environmental sustainability
- Basic education and literacy
In a call to action, he urged the Federal Government to provide tax waivers to funding partners supporting humanitarian work, which would enhance resources for charitable activities nationwide.
Additionally, Gboyega Bade, past president and chair of the 120th-anniversary committee, announced a special world webinar discussing ‘Rotary in World Peace and Security’ as part of the week-long festivities marking the milestone.
With its ambitious plans for 2025, Rotary District 9112 aims to further its mission of transforming lives and uplifting communities through sustained humanitarian efforts.
