The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Lagos State Chapter says that it has reviewed the content of its members’ sermons, and now focuses on re-orientation to discard corruption and instill patriotism.
The PFN Chairman, Pastor Yemi Davids, said this on Tuesday at a news conference to commemorate the PFN Lagos Chapter Executives’ one year in office.
He said that the preaching of such messages would instill discipline, and transform the people to better citizens.
“In the last one year, we have embarked on several reforms, reconciliatory measures and humanitarian services that have made the body more united and acceptable to the people.
“In years to come, we will mainstream the spiritual growth of the Faithful and participate in improving the nation’s electoral process to ensure better governance in the country.
“As part of our transformation agenda, we have reviewed the content of messages preached to worshippers to enable people discard the culture of corruption and instill patriotism,” he said.
Davids, who is also the Pastor in charge of the Global Impact Church, described corrupt practices as the bane of the society that transcended public office holders to the ways and perception of ordinary people on the streets.
According to him, if the nation must get it right in every facet of its national life a concerted effort must be made toward reorientation that fosters social redeeming values needed for the nation’s growth and development.
“The PFN, as a body, has embarked on the training of its preachers to equip them toward impacting people through daily preaching and the Sundays sermons on the new preaching template.
“The country cannot progress if the people are neck-deep in corruption and slandering the country, but rather progresses when the people imbibe the ideal notion and place national interest above personal interest,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, the Shepherd, Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, Pastor Dele Ajayi, said that one of its new messages that could positively impact people’s daily conduct was the “Mannerless Christian.”
Ajayi, a PFN executive, said that he had adopted the preaching of the topic in his Church to change people’s daily conduct toward doing things right and impacting society positively.
The PFN Vice-Chairman, Rev. Janet Onaolapo, said that the body was concerned about the killings in Benue and other parts of the country.
She said that the body would not relent in its humanitarian works to the needy, and would continue to pray for peace in the country to avoid displacement of citizens thereby necessitating relief interventions.
