mSkills acquisition and technological knowledge have been described as passports to creativity and opportunity that advance the course of the youth and enables them contribute meaningfully to society in a changing world.
At a colorful event held today to mark this year’s World International Youth Day at Trinity Event Center, Boji Boji, Owa, Ika North East LGA, the NDDC in collaboration with Noble Hope Foundation urged Niger Delta youths to acquire skills rather than relying on mere theoretical certification.
Speaking at the ceremony, stakeholders and invited resource persons commended the NDDC and spoke extensively on the significance of youths, who are leaders of tomorrow, being computer literate in an emerging digital world. They noted that technology plays a significant role in the lives of young people, offering them opportunities and providing access to information, education, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Ambassador Ogagaoghene Ogheneyole, one of the speakers, addressed participants and admonished them to key into the theme for this year’s World International Youth Day celebration by embracing technology and skills acquisition if they truly want to impact their world.
His words: “The world is now a digital global village and everything is changing very fast, hence, youths should change alongside and none should be left behind”.
He commended the NDDC for the good job it is doing across the nine NDDC states.
Speaking at the event, Barrister Eugene Uzum, the immediate past Director General, Orientation, Delta state, commended the NDDC for this laudable initiative and described Niger Delta youths as critical drivers of sustainable development in the region. He noted that they must not lag behind in embracing technology as youths of other countries are doing.
Also speaking and addressing participants at the event, Mrs. Josephine Jerele, Assistant Director, in the NDDC, said this year’s International Youth Day celebration focuses on advancing multilateral cooperation through technology and partnership.
APC stalwart, Chief Godwin Ogadi, while addressing participants urged Niger Delta youths to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the August programme and apply the knowledge gained in their everyday life.
He concluded by commending the NDDC for initiating such a life-impacting programme at this period of our political journey aimed at equipping and empowering them for a better tomorrow.
