A renewed attack by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herders in the Logo Local Government Area of Benue State has reportedly resulted in the death of at least seven people. The attackers targeted a commercial vehicle between Arufu and Chembe villages, shooting at passengers. Following the vehicular attack, the assailants invaded Mchia community at night, where they allegedly killed seven more people.
Anawah Joseph, a community leader, stated that the armed Fulani herders collaborated with Jukun militias in the attacks. According to Joseph, the attackers ambushed the road, shooting at a commercial vehicle and causing injuries to some passengers. Additionally, they reportedly slaughtered eight people in Mchia.
The Chairman of the Logo Local Government Area, Rev Adagbe Jonathan, confirmed the incident, stating that seven people were killed, and several others were still missing. He noted that the attackers, armed herders in collaboration with Jukun militias, struck at around 9 pm on Sunday. The injured victims were taken to a hospital in Anyim, while search efforts continued for missing individuals.
