After a 12-day quest to find Mrs. Beatrice Akinola, a female passenger on a bus that crashed near a filling station on December 28, 2023, the family is reaching out for assistance in locating the missing Lagos-based wife. The accident occurred when the bus, carrying 21 other passengers, somersaulted multiple times before engulfing in flames.
Despite fervent efforts, the family from Badagry expressed frustration as their search for Omoyeni, the missing woman, proved futile. They are now calling on state government agencies to aid in the search.
Pastor Emmanuel Akinola, the husband of the missing lady, recounted the incident to PUNCH Metro, saying, “She was on a journey from Ibadan to Badagry, boarding a vehicle at Iwo Road, close to the Ogere Toll Gate. She was with our last son, around 10 years old, when the accident occurred.” He continued, “The doctors informed us that they were in an accident, but our son was unharmed. After retrieving him, we searched various places, including the accident scene and the hospital’s morgue in Oyo State, with no sign of his wife.”
Akinola detailed their visit to the Ring Road Adeoyo Hospital, where the FRSC officers suggested checking for bodies. Despite examining five bodies, none belonged to his wife. The family extended their search to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, but found only 12 passengers out of the 22, fueling suspicions that some injured passengers might have been taken for medical attention before official response.
Felix, a family friend, appealed to the authorities to support in locating Beatrice, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. The family, having seen their son who was on the journey, remains desperate to find the missing wife. However, as of the report, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Adewale Osifeso, was unavailable for comment.
