A 70-year-old piggery farmer and elder at the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ijebu Igbo, identified as Pa Adeife Ifelaja, has been abducted by unknown assailants. The incident occurred at his residence in Ijebu Igbo on the night of December 31, 2023, as he was preparing to attend the Crossover service to usher in the New Year.
Sources reveal that Pa Adeife has been held captive for nine days, with the kidnappers contacting the family and demanding a ransom of N50 million. Negotiations between the family and the abductors reportedly ensued, with talks leaning towards a reduced amount of N10 million. The incident has been reported to the Ijebu Igbo police station.
Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the abduction and assured the public that the state command is actively working to secure Pa Adeife’s release and reunite him with his family. Alamutu emphasized the police’s determination, even in the face of misleading information from the kidnappers about their location. He expressed confidence that the authorities would soon achieve success in resolving the situation and bringing the elderly farmer back home safely.
