The Utako Police Divisional Headquarters in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria has arrested three individuals suspected of being involved in “one-chance” robbery activities. The term “one chance” is commonly used in Nigeria to describe a robbery carried out by a group of criminals who pick up passengers waiting for a taxi or bus, intending to rob or defraud them.
According to Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, the suspects confessed to carrying out a series of one-chance-related activities in the FCT before their apprehension. The police also recovered a blue Mazda car with the number plate FCT 590 EV, which was reportedly used by the syndicate in their criminal activities.
The arrested suspects, identified as Chukwudi Okorie (male, 51 years), Chibuzor Okorie (female, 43 years), and Esther Gabriel (female, 38 years), are residents of Akaraka Gwagwa in the FCT. The police emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing to apprehend any other accomplices involved in the criminal activities.
The Commissioner of Police for FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba, reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safety and peace of the FCT. He urged the public to continue reporting distress calls and suspicious activities to assist law enforcement efforts.
