The Ondo State Police Command announced on Tuesday that two individuals have been apprehended in connection with the death of Abiodun Akintomowo in Ondo town. The man reportedly passed away following a sexual encounter with a woman believed to be his girlfriend at a hotel in the Akinjagunla community on Sunday.
Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests but refrained from disclosing the identities of the suspects. She revealed that one of them was the deceased’s girlfriend, while the second suspect is the owner of the hotel where the incident occurred. According to Odunlami, the man fell ill after the sexual encounter and was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his condition. Both suspects are currently in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
The PPRO also mentioned that the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of a local hospital. A source reported that the woman raised an alarm when the man collapsed in the hotel room after the alleged sexual encounter. Hotel staff and residents rushed to the scene to rescue the man, but he was later confirmed dead. The hotel management subsequently reported the incident to the Yaba Divisional Police Station, leading to the evacuation of the deceased’s body to the morgue at the University of Medical Sciences in Ondo town.
