The Kano State Fire Service successfully intervened in preventing a 37-year-old man, identified as Saifullah Rabiu, from committing suicide by hanging himself on a tree. The man, in a suicide note, expressed that he was indebted to the tune of N2 million for the payment of a foreign visa.
The State Fire Service spokesman, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in a statement, mentioning that they received an emergency call from the Ministry of Works and Housing, Kano State, reporting the rescue situation at the State Road by Nassarawa Emir’s house.
The fire service personnel promptly mobilized to the scene, arriving at about 10:10 am and successfully rescued Saifullah Rabiu, who was attempting to take his own life. According to the statement, the victim explained in his suicide note that he owed someone N2 million for an entry visa to foreign countries. Despite having refunded about N500,000, he decided to end his life due to the challenges and embarrassment imposed on him by the creditor. The fire service’s timely intervention prevented the tragic outcome, and the man was saved.
