Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has expressed his disappointment with the current state of infrastructural facilities at the Abuja University of Technology, Abaji, which is still under construction.
Wike during a town hall meeting in Abaji on Friday, went on to describe the institution as a ‘glorified secondary school,’ even as he emphasized that it did not befit the image of the nation’s capital city.
On his part, the Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi, appealed for the completion of the university by September.
Responding, the FCT minister explained that the existing structures fell short of the required standards, making it impossible for him to inaugurate the project by September of this current year.
While assuring residents of Bwari and the FCT at large of his commitment to completing the university, the Minister announced plans to invite the Mandate Secretary of the Education Secretariat to review the master plan of the school.
This step reflects Wike’s determination to address the concerns surrounding the infrastructure and elevate the status of the Abuja University of Technology, Abaji.
