Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central, has officially resigned from his position as the Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum. The resignation letter, dated March 11, was made public shortly after Ningi was suspended by the Senate for three months due to his statement regarding the alleged padding of the 2024 budget.
In his resignation letter addressed to the forum, Ningi cited unfolding events in the National Assembly, the North, and the nation at large as the reason for his decision. He expressed gratitude to the members of the forum for the opportunity given to him to lead for the past eight months, emphasizing the importance of the forum in the progress and development of Northern Nigeria.
Ningi’s suspension came after approximately three hours of debate over his interview where he accused the National Assembly of padding the 2024 budget with N28.7 trillion. Alongside the suspension, the Senate issued a warning to Senator Suleiman Kawu (NNPP, Kano South) against sharing and distributing disturbing news about the Senate.
