Dangote Petroleum Refinery made headlines again on Tuesday with another significant reduction in the prices of diesel and aviation fuel. Following the widely celebrated price drop to N1,000 just two weeks prior, the refinery announced further reductions to N940 and N980 per litre for diesel and aviation fuel, respectively.
The revised prices apply to bulk purchases, with the N940 rate targeted at customers buying five million litres and above, while the N970 rate is for those purchasing one million litres and above. Anthony Chiejina, Head of Communication for Dangote Petroleum Refinery, emphasized that these price adjustments reflect the company’s commitment to alleviating economic challenges in Nigeria.
In a strategic move to ensure accessibility of affordable fuel across the nation, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has partnered with MRS Oil and Gas stations. This partnership aims to offer consumers competitively priced fuel, with rates as low as N1,050 for diesel and N980 for aviation fuel at all major airports where MRS operates.
Chiejina noted that this collaboration would extend to other major oil marketers, emphasizing the importance of preventing retail buyers from facing exorbitant prices.
The recent price cuts mark the third significant reduction in diesel price within three weeks, reflecting a swift response to market dynamics. President Bola Tinubu commended Dangote for its proactive approach to price reduction, hailing it as an “enterprising feat.”
In response to the latest development, Ajayi Kadiri, Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, lauded Dangote Refinery’s efforts. He described the successive price reductions as a testament to the positive impact of local industries on the national economy. Kadiri highlighted the far-reaching effects of these reductions, foreseeing benefits across critical sectors such as industrial operations, transportation, logistics, and agriculture. He emphasized that the lower fuel prices would contribute to easing the high inflation rate and facilitate the revival of dormant businesses.
