The Nigerian Air Force announced on Wednesday the successful operation conducted jointly by the air component of Operation Hadin Kai and troops of the Nigerian Army, resulting in the elimination of several terrorists and destruction of their hideouts in Damasak and Mobbar local government areas of Borno State.
According to Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, the terrorists attempted to attack troops of Sector 4 of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) at Lada, a border town between Niger Republic and Nigeria, before fleeing across the border into Nigeria.
The fleeing terrorists, traveling on eight motorcycles, were later tracked to two locations in Zarri village, approximately 28 kilometers east of Damasak, and Mala Alide in the Mobbar area of Borno.
In a statement, Gabkwet said, “Subsequently, airstrikes from the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai and Nigerien Air Force, under the watchful eye of Niger’s Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft, struck the terrorists’ locations.”
Real-time ISR footage confirmed the successful elimination of numerous terrorists and the destruction of several structures within the targeted areas.
Gabkwet emphasized the positive outcomes of collaborative efforts between Nigerian and Nigerien forces, highlighting the reduction in terrorism and other cross-border crimes perpetrated by criminals evading justice by crossing borders.
