The Ekiti State Police have apprehended a group of suspects, including twins Taiwo and Kehinde Olasoji, along with Funke Afolayan and Nnaji Aroh, for their involvement in burglary and the receipt of stolen goods. Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeniran Akinwale, disclosed that the twins were apprehended on April 25 while attempting to break into a shop at Mathew Street, Odo-Ado, Ado Ekiti.
According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer Sunday Abutu, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the crime during interrogation. They confessed to burglarizing three shops in Fayemi Market at Agric Olope, Ado Ekiti, where they made away with items worth N936,750, including bags of rice, beans, and other valuables.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Funke Afolayan and Nnaji Benignus Aroh, who were allegedly receiving stolen properties from the twins. The commissioner emphasized that the suspects would face appropriate legal action.
Previously, on March 25, the police paraded another suspect involved in burglary at the Ekiti airport store on March 7. The suspect was found in possession of 18 lengths of 12mm iron rods valued at N261,000. The commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
These arrests underscore the commitment of the Ekiti State Police to combatting crime and ensuring the safety and security of residents.
