Two female students from the Joseph Sarwuan University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, have been abducted by gunmen in a distressing incident that unfolded late Saturday night. Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the state command, confirmed the unfortunate event to journalists on Wednesday, revealing that the abduction occurred around 11 pm along the North Bank/Uniagric Road.
According to Anene, the perpetrators of the abduction blocked the road, launching an attack and swiftly seizing the victims before security operatives could intervene. Both the families of the abducted students and the school authorities promptly alerted the command, initiating ongoing investigations into the matter.
In a separate development, Benue State Police reported a successful operation resulting in the rescue of two individuals and the elimination of three suspected kidnappers. The incident occurred in the Ukum Local Government Area, where the kidnappers had abducted two people and demanded a ransom of N23 million. Anene disclosed that a team from Operation Zenda, deployed to the area, raided the kidnappers’ hideout in the early hours of Wednesday, bringing the harrowing ordeal to an end.
