The Federal Government has announced that the next phase of recruitment for the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Federal Fire Service will commence in August, with plans to conclude the exercise by the end of September. Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board, disclosed this in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja.
Ahmed clarified that the recruitment exercise, initially scheduled to end on June 15, 2024, was extended due to a nationwide manpower audit conducted across the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
He stated, “The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board wishes to inform the general public that it will commence the next stage of the recruitment exercise in August, and will conclude the exercise before the end of September 2024.”
Ahmed assured that all candidates who have been shortlisted will receive notifications regarding the next steps of the recruitment process through their provided phone numbers and email addresses.
He also apologized for the delay in completing the exercise as initially planned, attributing it to the necessary manpower audits conducted by the services under the Board.
“The board wishes to apologise for its inability to complete the process by 15th June 2024, as earlier intended. This is due to a nationwide manpower audit exercise carried out in the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, which was just recently concluded,” Ahmed added.
