A female student at the National Open University of Nigeria in Abuja was reportedly denied entry to her examination due to allegations of inappropriate attire. The student, identified as Cassandra Michael, shared a video online describing the incident.
In the video, Cassandra explained that she arrived at the school in the morning to take an exam around 2:00 but was informed by one of the invigilators that she would not be allowed to write the exam due to her dressing being deemed improper. She wore a white top, a blue denim jacket, and black jeans.
The video circulating on the internet showed a security guard preventing her from entering the examination hall while she questioned, “I want to know my offence.” A man standing in front of the hall responded, “Don’t you know what you wear?”
The incident has sparked a conversation about dress codes and examination policies in educational institutions, with many expressing concerns about the subjectivity and potential unfairness in enforcing such rules.
