The Federal Government has announced a significant increase in the fees for obtaining Nigerian passports, set to take effect on September 1, 2024. This development was made public on Wednesday through a statement released by Kenneth Udo, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), via their official X (formerly Twitter) account.
According to the statement, the fee adjustment is part of the government’s efforts to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.
Under the new pricing structure, the cost of a 32-page passport booklet with a five-year validity will rise from N35,000 to N50,000. Similarly, the 64-page passport booklet with a ten-year validity will see an increase from N70,000 to N100,000.
The decision reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that the passport remains secure and up to international standards.
