A 55-year-old woman, identified as Ifeoma, tragically passed away after collapsing while sharing a testimony during a church service at the Ministry Church in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State. The incident occurred around 8:48 a.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
Lagos State police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the unfortunate event on Wednesday. Ifeoma had gone to the front of the church, singing songs of gratitude in preparation for her testimony when she suddenly collapsed mid-service.
According to Hundeyin, the woman was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but was later referred to the General Hospital in Isolo, where she was pronounced dead.
He stated: “The Zonal Accountant of the church in Ejigbo came to the station to report that during the testimony hour, Ifeoma came forward singing songs to share her testimony but suddenly slumped. She was rushed to the hospital, but sadly, she was confirmed dead upon arrival at the General Hospital in Isolo.”
Hundeyin further explained that detectives were dispatched to investigate, but upon their arrival, they were informed that the deceased’s husband and family had already taken her body to Anambra State, her hometown, for burial.
This tragedy comes after a similar incident in May 2024, when a 30-year-old man reportedly drowned at Elegushi Beach in Lagos while attending a prayer session.
