The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, has mandated an urgent investigation into a homicide incident involving Inspector Mohammed Bulama from the Police Mobile Force, 41 Division, based in Damaturu, the state capital.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Yobe Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the altercation occurred on September 29, 2024, around 6:20 PM. Inspector Bulama, 38, was reportedly engaged in a heated dispute with Abdulmalik Dauda, 39, known as Baksha, over a financial transaction that remained unresolved in the Zango Area.
The argument escalated into violence, with Bulama allegedly stabbing Dauda in the chest, resulting in serious head injuries during the confrontation. Following the incident, Bulama sought refuge at the ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters, where he was arrested.
The state’s Criminal Investigation Department has launched an investigation, and Bulama remains in custody while facing potential internal disciplinary measures and prosecution.
Commissioner Ahmed condemned the actions of Bulama, extending condolences to Dauda’s family, and assured the public of a comprehensive and prompt investigation to ensure justice is served. He emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force will not tolerate any misconduct among its personnel and that accountability will be enforced.
