Oyedepo, the founder of the church, expressed his joy about the development in a short video, announcing the news to his congregation during the Tehillah Night Special Edition at the Covenant University Chapel on Sunday. This event also served as a special thanksgiving service following Oyedepo’s 70th birthday celebration in September.
Keyamo’s media aide, Tunde Moshood, verified the news, confirming the minister’s approval of the private airstrip. “Yes, the minister approved the airstrip,” Moshood stated. “It is a private airstrip, and that I can confirm.”
In his announcement, Oyedepo explained how the airstrip would facilitate more convenient travel for him, enabling him to fly directly from the church premises without the need to first travel to a commercial airport. He also noted that church members with private planes would benefit from the airstrip as a place to land and park during visits.
“This will make it easier for me and other members who own planes. We can fly directly from here, making travel more seamless, especially during large events,” Oyedepo said.
He further emphasized the success of Covenant University graduates who have found their paths in different fields, mentioning some who are now pilots that fly him. “Covenant University doesn’t box students into one path. It encourages them to pursue God’s plan for their lives,” he told the congregation, urging the youth to remain focused on their future.
