The Minister of State for Youth Development, Olawande Ayodele, has affirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering national solidarity and promoting youth development across Nigeria.
During a recent visit from a delegation of the Nigeria Youths Union (NYU) to his Abuja office, the minister expressed readiness to collaborate on initiatives aimed at addressing the pressing issues faced by young Nigerians.
Chinonso Obasi, the president of the NYU, outlined the delegation’s demands, emphasizing the urgent need to reorganize the Nigerian youth structure and reorient young people towards national cohesion. Obasi highlighted how the challenges of a struggling economy, rising insecurity, high unemployment rates, and inadequate infrastructure are profoundly impacting the youth.
In his response, Minister Ayodele commended the NYU for its advocacy in critical areas, including primary healthcare, local government autonomy, youth inclusion in governance, anti-corruption measures, and tackling illegal mining activities.
He stated, “The Nigerian Youth Union has been at the forefront of advocating for a better Nigeria. We are ready to work together on patriotic calls aimed at fostering national solidarity and the development of our youth.” The minister’s remarks signal a hopeful partnership between the government and youth organizations to tackle the challenges faced by the nation’s young population.
