Joseph Aloba, the father of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has disclosed that his life has taken a positive turn following his son’s death.
In an interview with media personality Akin Abolade, also known as Mrlilgaga, Aloba credited Mohbad’s spirit and divine intervention for the assistance he has received since the tragedy.
“Yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend,” Aloba said. “He had plans to do many things for me, but they didn’t allow him to. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad and God combined that sent people to assist me. Even the car and everything I have now were gifts from people.”
Aloba further alleged that Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and her family were in possession of most of the late singer’s properties, including a plot of land Mohbad bought for him to build a church.
“Two weeks before his death, he showed me a house he planned to buy after his tour, which I know he had fully paid for,” Aloba added.
Reflecting on his son’s early life, Aloba revealed that Mohbad inspired him to pursue music after money meant for his naming ceremony was stolen. Mohbad became a backup singer for him at the age of one.
The grieving father, who identifies as a carpenter, singer, and pastor, expressed gratitude for the support he has received. He showcased a new block industry, truck, and Toyota Highlander vehicle gifted to him by compassionate Nigerians.
Since Mohbad’s death, Aloba has released nine songs and continues to honor his son’s memory through his work.
Mohbad passed away on September 11, 2023, in Lagos at the age of 26. His death sparked investigations, leading to the arrest of an unlicensed nurse accused of administering a tetanus injection to him. The case remains under review by the Lagos State Police Command.
