The three pastors, who were guest ministers at the three-day crusade, were returning to their guest house after the second day of the event when they were ambushed around 11 p.m. on the Ejule-Anyigba Road.
The Nigerian Army, upon receiving the alert, quickly mobilized alongside other security agencies to launch a two-day search operation. The combined team located the kidnappers’ hideout in a forest and engaged in a two-hour gunfight. The attackers fled with injuries, abandoning the hostages, who were all rescued unharmed.
Kogi State Deputy Governor Joel Salifu praised the bravery and professionalism of the security forces involved in the operation. In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Emmanuel Unubi, Salifu expressed relief over the safe return of the victims and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to ensuring security.
“Under Governor Ahmed Ododo’s leadership, Kogi State will remain an unwelcoming ground for criminals,” Salifu stated, emphasizing the government’s determination to protect lives and property.
The rescue underscores Kogi State’s ongoing efforts to combat insecurity and uphold safety for its residents.
