A 25-year-old woman, identified as Salamatu Danjuma, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband to death following a domestic dispute in Nadabo village, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, Bauchi State.
Confirming the incident, the Bauchi State Police Command stated that the tragic event occurred on February 24, 2025, due to marital tensions over the custody of Salamatu’s six-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
Details of the Incident
Police spokesperson Ahmed Wakil disclosed in a statement that initial discussions between the couple suggested the husband was open to welcoming the child into their home. However, he later changed his stance, leading to a heated argument.
“The situation escalated drastically when Salamatu, feeling cornered by her husband’s refusal, grabbed a knife from their bedroom and stabbed him,” the statement read.
Upon receiving a distress call, police operatives from the Bununu Divisional Headquarters rushed to the scene and evacuated the victim to the Cottage Hospital in Bununu. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
Police Investigation Underway
Following the incident, Commissioner of Police Auwal Mohammed has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a thorough and discreet investigation into the case.
