Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reacted to the declaration of a state of emergency in the state, urging citizens to remain calm and law-abiding while assuring them of his commitment to constitutional order.
In a press statement addressing Rivers people, Fubara emphasized that his administration has always prioritized the security and progress of the state, despite ongoing political tensions.
“Since assuming office, all my decisions have been guided by my constitutional oath and a deep sense of duty. We have remained committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the welfare of our people,” he stated.
Fubara highlighted efforts to maintain peace, including his swift implementation of President Tinubu’s peace-brokering measures and adherence to the Supreme Court’s ruling. However, he lamented that the Rivers State House of Assembly had continuously frustrated attempts at genuine reconciliation.
“Yes, we have political disagreements, but governance has not stalled. Salaries are being paid, and significant projects are ongoing. Most importantly, Rivers State remains safe under our leadership,” he added.
The embattled governor called on the people of Rivers State to remain resilient, assuring them that his administration will engage relevant institutions to safeguard democracy.
“As a people, we have always faced challenges with wisdom and patience. We will navigate this moment with unwavering faith in the democratic process,” Fubara declared.
He concluded his address by reaffirming his dedication to the state’s stability and prosperity.
