The Abia State Police Command has reported the arrest of a radio presenter in the Obingwa area of the state for allegedly sodomizing a teenage boy. The police received a report on January 1, 2024, concerning the unlawful carnal knowledge of a 15-year-old boy by the suspect identified as Chigozie.
According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, the accused, Mr. Chigozie, is alleged to have engaged in unlawful carnal knowledge with the minor. The police confirmed that discreet investigations are ongoing, and the case will be charged to court.
Despite initial reports referring to Chigozie as a radio presenter, subsequent sources revealed that he is a 37-year-old resident in the Eastern Ngwa division, operating as a freelance journalist in radio stations within Aba. The arrest occurred on December 31, 2023, at his residence, following a complaint lodged at the Eastern Ngwa Police Station by the victim’s father.
The victim recounted that the suspect took him to a location near a hotel in Aba, offering him bread which he declined. Subsequently, the victim alleges that the suspect slapped him, causing him to fall on the bed and eventually sleep. Upon waking up the next morning, the boy reported experiencing pain in his anus.
The case highlights the seriousness with which law enforcement is addressing such allegations, and the ongoing investigation aims to provide justice for the victim.
